About this grant
The purpose of this program is to increase the level of independent funding and technical assistance available to nonprofit organizations working with children and youth in Slovakia. In 2007-2010, the Children of Slovakia Foundation, one of the leading philanthropic foundations in Central and Eastern Europe, will enhance its grantmaking programs and capacity-building services aimed at assisting the development of children and young people in Slovakia. The grantee will promote local philanthropy by implementing new fundraising methods and strengthening the professionalism of nonprofit organizations. In addition, the grantee will strengthen its organizational capacity and financial sustainability by improving operational procedures and developing more effective asset management. Since its establishment in 1996, the grantee has provided more than 1,400 grants totaling $4.5 million to nonprofit organizations working with children and youth in Slovakia. The Children of Slovakia Foundation has emerged as one of the most strategic grantmakers in Central and Eastern Europe.
