About

Caroline Michael Asiala is a Communications Officer working with the Mott Foundation’s Education program.

Originally from Michigan, her career began in Quito, Ecuador, where she moved after graduating from Alma College with a degree in Environmental Health Studies. Working for Asylum Access, an organization dedicated to making refugee rights a reality, Asiala supported the Latin American office in convening stakeholders across the region to promote refugees’ and asylum seekers’ rights to work, education and health services in their new homes.

In 2018, she joined the team at Centrico Digital, a digital marketing firm in Quito, and co-founded a spin-off, B Centrico, to serve nonprofits and social enterprises. Asiala continued in the private sector throughout her move back to Michigan in 2023, simultaneously pursuing the MITx MicroMasters Program in Data, Economics and Design of Policy.

In her spare time, Asiala serves on the board of VASE Ecuador, a volunteer service exchange program, and produces “How to Help a Few Billion People,” a podcast about entrepreneurs scaling sustainable solutions to the world’s greatest problems.
