“During my time in the nonprofit, higher education, and public sectors, I’ve known the Mott Foundation to be one of the most forward-thinking funders I’ve ever encountered. At Mott Community College, for example, I saw them step up for early childhood education in a way that was visionary, realizing that our student parents with small children would be way more likely to succeed in college if they knew their little ones were being educated in a safe, high-quality, and close-by setting. This was the genesis of the Lenore Croudy Family Life Center at MCC, which opened in 2020. The Mott Foundation’s grantmaking allowed the Croudy Center to become a reality. It’s a place where more than 80% of the student parents who are able to access its early childhood offerings end up getting their degrees, improving the quality of life for themselves and their families, and transitioning to gainful employment or additional education once they leave the college.”
