About this grant

AdvocAid’s goal is to provide justice services, using a legal empowerment approach, to women and girls in Sierra Leone. To this end, the grantee will continue to provide justice services to women in selected cities in Sierra Leone, using a network of paralegals and social workers. The grantee will also represent women and girls in court, where the reasons for their injustices are systemic in nature. The grantee plans to continue monitoring police stations and correctional centers where women are held. Past support has allowed the grantee to deepen its justice services and address the lack of legal representation for women in Sierra Leone, while addressing the socioeconomic reasons women find themselves in the justice system. Established in 2006, AdvocAid is a human rights organization that provides holistic justice services to women and girls in Sierra Leone using a legal empowerment approach.
