About this grant
This grant will enable American University — a major university based in Washington, D.C. — to launch the Sandra N. Smithey Fellowship Fund for Equity and Accountability in International Development. As a former program officer at the Mott Foundation, Sandra Smithey brought a unique combination of rigor and passion for responsive, sustainable and pro-poor development that delivers real benefits to communities, including access to renewable energy and human-centered infrastructure. The Fellowship is designed to reflect these qualities by providing opportunities for advocates from around the world to share their experiences and lessons learned with the development community.
