About this grant
This grant will support increased access to justice for poor and marginalized people in Malawi. The Paralegal Advisory Service Institute will do this by providing timely, effective and inclusive justice services. To this end, the grantee will use its network of paralegals and community village mediators to provide justice services in Malawi. Past support allowed the grantee to provide justice services to thousands of people in 29 districts of Malawi. It trained networks of community justice workers to undertake this work, while participating in policy discussions to increase access to justice for everyone in Malawi. The Paralegal Advisory Service Institute was established in 2007 to make justice accessible to all people in Malawi and deploys trained paralegals to provide legal education, advice, and assistance in criminal and civil justice processes.
