About this grant
The project goal is to increase access to justice services in Rwanda. To this end, the Legal Aid Forum will continue implementing its justice services through paralegals, lawyers and its network of legal service providers. The grantee will conduct training for paralegals, hold legal aid clinics, prioritize the implementation of Rwanda’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Policy, and strengthen its technology to provide justice services. Past support has helped the grantee to provide justice services to over 12,000 people, while training over 1,000 community paralegals. The Legal Aid Forum also undertook research on the Rwandan government’s implementation of the United Nations Universal Periodic Review recommendations. Additionally, the grantee was instrumental in launching Rwanda’s first Alternative Dispute Resolution Center. The Legal Aid Forum was established in 2006 with a mission to provide and promote equitable access to justice for indigent and vulnerable persons in Rwanda.
