About this grant

The Instituto Socioambiental is a pioneer in developing strategies to protect the Amazon rainforest and Indigenous Amazonian communities. This project creates and implements management models for off-grid solar renewable energy systems in remote Indigenous communities, particularly in the Xingu River basin and the Raposa Serra do Sol Indigenous Territory in Roraima. Previous work successfully installed off-grid renewable energy systems and provided training to community members. Over the next grant period, the grantee will continue offering technical training and support to ensure the successful replication, implementation and management of off-grid solar energy solutions in these territories. Additionally, it will monitor federal renewable energy universalization programs while engaging with civil society and regulators to enhance the effectiveness of these programs’ implementation.
