About this grant

This grant supports Open Briefing to maintain open civic spaces and human rights that allow community-driven solutions to flourish. The grantee provides holistic security support to grassroots individuals and organizations to strengthen their physical security, digital resilience and collective wellbeing. During the previous grant period, the grantee: 1) received 1,127 calls for assistance from civil society organizations, community groups and social movements at risk; 2) performed 10,705 hours of mentoring and accompaniment; and 3) trained more than 2,039 at-risk people in 226 holistic security workshops around the world. During 2025 to 2028, the grantee will disrupt attacks and reprisals against those at the frontline by providing holistic security mentoring and accompaniment in high-risk cases and emergency contexts, notably via its rapid response mechanism. Open Briefing will also produce resources and guides in multiple languages and build collective capacity through addressing gaps in community-based support around the world.
