About this grant
The Narwhal is a nonprofit, online news magazine that publishes in-depth and investigative journalism about the natural world in Canada while striving to include First Nation/Indigenous voices in every article. In 2023, The grantee joined the Great Lakes News Collaborative, a Mott-funded partnership among several newsrooms. The grantee has been a valuable contributor to the Great Lakes News Collaborative, producing and sharing articles that increased its collective audience and raised public awareness of important issues that affect ecosystems and communities across the Great Lakes basin. With renewed support, The Narwhal will continue to produce outstanding coverage of Great Lakes issues for its readers and the other media outlets in the Great Lakes News Collaborative.
