About this grant
The Brazilian Institute for Consumer Defense is a nongovernmental organization focused on: 1) ensuring citizens’ access to essential goods and services; 2) promoting social development; 3) sustainable consumption; and 4) environmental health. The grantee raises awareness about the social and economic impacts of renewable energy access for isolated communities in the Brazilian Amazon. This grant increase and associated grant period extension will support the grantee’s continued efforts to improve the implementation of the federal electrification program. The additional funding will enhance program implementation oversight, foster community engagement and help ensure that solar energy systems reach those who need them most.
