About this grant

The project goal is to strengthen the voice of civil society organizations in the deliberations of the Group of 20 Nations meetings in South Africa. To this extent, the African Climate Foundation will work with a network of organizations to implement both an insider and outsider approach to raise the ambition and accountability of the Group of 20 Nations in international financial architecture reform toward climate action and development. Working with other stakeholders, the grantee also plans to participate in a People’s Summit, where approximately 20 organizations will join efforts to investigate appropriate and sustainable financing for ambitious climate actions. Established in 2020, the grantee is the first strategic intermediary grantmaker in Africa working at the nexus of climate change and development. The African Climate Foundation’s mission is to support interventions that deliver long-term socioeconomic transformation and inclusive development in Africa.
