About this grant
The project goal is to support philanthropic actors with timely and reliable data to understand the breadth and impact of the sector on communities and the economy nationwide, and to understand how proposed changes in the regulation and taxation of the sector may impact those same communities. Grand Valley State University’s Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy will conduct research related to private foundations and tax policy and philanthropy’s contribution to the tax system. The research conclusions will be delivered in a brief report that can be shared with and utilized by foundations as support material for continued tax-exemption status. Established in 1992, the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy is an academic center within the College of Community and Public Service at Grand Valley State University.
