About this grant
The project goal is to strengthen the Ukrainian community foundation field. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Ednannia has mobilized over $2.1 million to help Ukrainian community foundations respond to emergency needs, maintain their institutional viability and address local challenges. Thus far, the grantee has awarded grants to Ukraine’s 15 community foundations, as well as their network, totaling $1.8 million and anticipates awarding another $100,000 before the end of the year. A grant increase will allow the grantee to support an additional seven community foundations that were established in mid-2025. Over 2026-2027, the grantee will provide core support and local funding challenge grants to all 22 Ukrainian community foundations as well as seed grants to any new community foundation initiatives that may emerge. Established in 1999, Ednannia is an indigenous grantmaker well-regarded for its rigorous, transparent, responsive and effective processes to support community-level, grassroots organizations throughout Ukraine.
