About this grant
This grant to the American Red Cross — East Central Bay-Michigan Chapter in Flint will help reduce fire risk and casualties by funding smoke alarm installation and fire safety education. These programs teach residents, especially youth, to identify fire hazards and develop safety plans. Alongside providing free smoke alarm installation, American Red Cross volunteers visit homes to spot fire risks and offer tailored advice on designing fire safety and evacuation plans. The program also includes educational workshops for youth, distributes multilingual materials and works with local emergency services to improve fire response in Flint’s high-risk neighborhoods.
