About this grant
With this grant, Communities First will renovate the historic Masonic Temple building. Located on South Saginaw Street in downtown Flint, the renovations will enable the building to be used once again for an array of public events. Communities First will host many of its events in the space, hire staff to program the space with live musical events, and rent the space for public meetings, community gatherings, and private events such as dinners and weddings. A tenant will be sought to operate the newly renovated kitchen and restaurant on the building’s lower level, to once again serve Flint area residents and visitors. The mid-sized venue offered by the Masonic Temple is currently missing in Flint and will contribute to an improved quality of life and vibrancy of downtown Flint.
