About this grant
With this grant, the Foundation for the Uptown Reinvestment Corporation — through its supported organization the Uptown Reinvestment Corporation — will lead two enhancement projects at the Flint Farmers’ Market. The first project is to enclose a portion of the Market’s underutilized outdoor pavilion, which will expand the functionality of the space for vendors and visitors and bolster downtown’s placemaking and economic vitality. The new multifunction space will feature designated areas for food trucks, a new centralized bar and exterior amenities including a music stage, recreational games, community tables and a fire pit. The second project is to improve the loading dock and storage area, which will lead to greater efficiency for Market vendors, including food entrepreneurs based out of the Market’s commercial kitchen. These projects will support efforts to draw visitors to the Market, improve the attractiveness and vibrancy of downtown, and support small business development in Flint.
