Kathryn A. Thomas
A Jersey Girl for nearly half a century, Kathryn Thomas was living two doors down from the house she grew up in when she was recruited to the Mott Foundation in early 2014. “I had no intention of leaving the East Coast,” she said. “But from my very first conversations with the people who would become my colleagues at Mott, I knew I wanted to work with them and contribute to the Foundation’s efforts.”
Thomas brings more than 25 years of experience in strategic communications to her role as vice president of Communications. Before joining Mott, she spent 12 years as a senior communications officer at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in Princeton, New Jersey. Previous positions included vice president and COO of a high-tech startup in Philadelphia and coordinator of multimedia communications for the University of Pennsylvania Health System. She earned a bachelor’s degree in radio-TV-film and a master’s in journalism from Temple University.
