About

Kathryn Thomas brings more than 30 years of experience in strategic communications to her role as vice president of Communications at the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. She leads a team of creative and talented communicators working to support and advance the work of the Foundation, its four grantmaking teams and organizations Mott supports.

Before joining Mott, Thomas served more than a dozen years as senior communications officer at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in Princeton, New Jersey. There she worked on high-level national programs, such as First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move initiative and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s Healthy Schools Program. Previous positions included vice president and COO of a high-tech startup in Philadelphia and coordinator of multimedia communications for the University of Pennsylvania Health System. She earned a bachelor’s degree in radio-TV-film and a master’s in journalism from Temple University.
