About this grant
In recent years, the Michigan Environmental Council, a statewide coalition of environmental groups, has worked to align transportation-related decisions in Michigan with emerging opportunities at the federal level; build broad support for a state transportation agenda that calls for increased investments in public transportation and nonmotorized options; and promote connections between transportation and other prominent public concerns. This renewal grant will allow the council to deepen such work through efforts to prepare the state’s metropolitan regions for world-class transit; support the implementation of existing transit system plans as models; inform decisionmaking related to transportation and state economic development investments; support effective implementation of Michigan’s Complete Streets policy; and build support for a comprehensive passenger rail system in Michigan.
