About this grant
This is one of ten grants recommended to state organizations as part of the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative. The Ford, Casey, and Mott foundations created the initiative in 1992 in order to build state capacity for timely, credible, and accessible tax and budget analysis on behalf of low- and middle-income families. The Fiscal Policy Institute was founded in 1991 to increase public and governmental understanding of issues related to the fairness of New York’s tax system and the stability and adequacy of state and local public services. The grantee joined the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative in 1993 and has become recognized as an authoritative source of information and analysis. During this grant period, the grantee will prepare and disseminate analyses on a range of state fiscal issues, with a particular emphasis on the state and local budget and tax policies, income, and economic security policies, and jobs, wages, and economic development policies. Related to this project is a grant to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, which provides technical assistance to all 41state organizations participating in this initiative.
