About this grant

The Legal Resources Trust provides legal support to nonprofit organizations on issues ranging from legal education and litigation to the administration of justice. Past support from Mott assisted the grantee to provide legal and institutional assistance on how to establish, register, and administer nonprofit organizations; train nonprofits on topics related to nonprofit law; support advocacy to improve the legal and fiscal environment for nonprofits in South Africa; and to explore partnerships between community advice offices and faith-based institutions. This grant will support the grantee to continue to assist nonprofits to register as legal entities; provide legal advice and related services to nonprofits; litigate on behalf of clients when necessary; assist communities to understand their rights and proactively engage in initiatives that improve their lives; and conduct research on international best practices to regulate the work of community advice offices and paralegals.
