About this grant
Through its Great Lakes Washington Program, the Northeast-Midwest Institute, a nonpartisan research organization, is a key voice for the Great Lakes region in Washington, D.C. With prior Mott support, the institute has provided staff to the bipartisan House and Senate Great Lakes Task Forces, promoted coalitions to sustain bipartisan efforts to protect and enhance the Great Lakes region, identified federal policy options that can enhance ecosystem initiatives in the Great Lakes basin, and conducted briefings and issue analyses that linked in-region advocates with the Washington-based policy communities. Renewal support will allow the institute to maintain such core activities, as well as work in a focused way on the problem of aquatic invasive species.
