About this grant
This grant increase will support the American Youth Policy Forum in organizing a timely Congressional study tour in the spring of 2011 to a unique expanded learning time pilot program in New York City. To date, Congressional staff have become most familiar with one particular expanded learning time model currently being implemented in Massachusetts which is serving as a basis to shape federal afterschool and expanded learning policy. This study tour and related project work will educate Congressional leaders and staff on a different model of expanded learning which builds upon the best practices of the 21st Century Community Learning Center program, and which emphasizes school and community partnerships.
