About this grant

The Women’s Hope, Education and Training Trust (WHEAT) is an intermediary grantmaker that supports community-based organizations working in poor communities throughout South Africa. Over the past two years, the grantee hosted events to bring men and women from different backgrounds together in the fight against abuse and create networking opportunities for its grantees. It held grantee convenings across the country to hear, firsthand, the challenges faced by their communities. This input has informed its future support to organizations working in these communities. The grantee also provided grantmaking services to institutions and individuals that wish to support women-led organizations. The grantee will continue to make grants to organizations that promote social justice, particularly those that focus on minority rights, economic empowerment, promoting health and wellness, and educating communities on gender equality.
