About this grant
The Uthungulu Community Foundation was established in 1999 to promote and support projects that improve the quality of life of poor people in the Zululand region of KwaZulu-Natal province. Since its inception, the grantee has focused on making grants and providing training and mentoring support to community-based organizations. It also assists organizations to access resources from other funders by brokering relations and linking donors to causes. Over the past two years, the grantee made grants to over 30 community-based organizations, participated in various national events, and supported fellow nonprofits through sharing knowledge and experiences. Over the next two years, the grantee will continue to strengthen community-based organizations through grantmaking, encouraging public participation by civil society in local governance processes, providing platforms for dialogue with youth to help young people in Zululand become entrepreneurs, and supporting projects that create jobs.
