About this grant
This grant supports the active participation of people in the development of their communities and in the political processes shaping the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During 2011-2012, the Centers for Civic Initiatives – Tuzla will strengthen the accountability of decisionmakers to citizens by monitoring the work of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s state- and entity-level governments and parliaments. The grantee will also provide financial and technical support to other nonprofits to engage in advocacy and awareness-raising campaigns. Finally, the grantee will advocate for an improved legal and fiscal framework for philanthropy in the country. During the past two years, the grantee issued quarterly monitoring reports on the work of the state- and entity-level government and parliaments and 13 cantonal assemblies, carried out an assessment of the levels and quality of citizen participation in decisionmaking, and provided $2.7 million in grants to nonprofits. The grantee is based in Tuzla.
