About this grant
This grant supports the work of the Russian and Eurasian program of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, which is implemented by its Carnegie Moscow Center. The center is the leading international analytical institution for independent scholars examining contemporary Russian affairs. During the grant period, it will continue to provide a neutral venue for open discussion and debate in six key program areas including foreign and security policy, political institutions, society and the regions, religion and society, nonproliferation, and economic and energy policy. In the previous grant period, the center’s analysts produced over 250 media articles and numerous monographs and policy briefs and contributed to the publication of eight issues of the in-house journal "Pro et Contra". They also initiated the Russia: 2020 – Scenarios for Development project examining all facets of Russia’s potential for modernization. The Carnegie Moscow Center has been a key component of the grantee’s engagement in Russia since 1993.
