About this grant

This is one of ten grants recommended to state organizations participating in the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative. The Ford, Casey, and Mott foundations created this initiative in 1992 in order to build state capacity for timely, credible, and accessible tax and budget analysis on behalf of low- and moderate-income families. The Maine Center for Economic Policy joined this effort in 1993 and is recognized by journalists, policymakers, and advocates as an authoritative source of information and analysis. Over the next two years, the grantee will produce and disseminate research and analyses on a range of issues, with a particular emphasis on state and local tax policies, education issues, and income support programs. Related to this project is a grant to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, which analyzes federal budget and fiscal issues and provides technical assistance to the 41 state organizations participating in this initiative.
