About this grant

This grant provides renewal support to the Council on Foundations, a national membership organization of more than 1,700 private foundations, community foundations, and corporate funders. The grantee’s work on behalf of philanthropy includes government relations and advocacy, communications, standard-setting, learning opportunities, research, legal expertise, convenings, and sector leadership. Achievements over the past couple of years include key involvement in the charitable giving coalition, graduating a cohort of prospective philanthropic leaders in its career pathways program, and developing the Global Grantmaking Institute. Over the next two years, the grantee will focus on the following four strategies: 1) delivering excellent member stewardship; 2) providing field and thought leadership that enables and promotes giving; 3) strengthening the grantee’s brand and reputation; and 4) building a resilient organization.
