About this grant
The Council of Michigan Foundations is a statewide association of more than 300 grantmakers that provides its members with educational programs, technical assistance, networking opportunities, advocacy with policymakers and regulators, and collaborative work with leading national and regional philanthropic associations. During 2015-2016, the grantee has focused on membership recruitment, retention, engagement, diversification, and perception, provision of advocacy and learning services, strategic partnerships and greater philanthropy engagement, the integration of inclusion and equity throughout the organization; updating its governance structure, and enhancing its financial sustainability. This grant increase will support the research and design phase of a program to support community foundations in Michigan as they serve in a leadership role for clean energy transition in their communities. Additional funds will also support the participation of senior council staff on the board of the Worldwide Initiatives for Grantmaker Support, a global philanthropy association network.
