About this grant

This is one of ten grants recommended to state organizations participating in the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative. The Ford, Annie E. Casey, and Mott Foundations created the initiative in 1992 in order to build state capacity for timely, credible, and accessible tax and budget analysis on behalf of low- and middle-income families. Arise Citizens’ Policy Project joined this effort in 1993 and has successfully incorporated rigorous policy analysis into its core community-organizing activities. During the renewal grant period, the grantee will prepare and disseminate analyses, with a particular emphasis on policies that benefit Alabama’s most vulnerable residents. Other activities planned for the next two years include outreach and strategic communication efforts. Related to this project is a grant to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, which provides technical assistance to all 36 organizations participating in the initiative.
