About this grant
The Trust for Community Outreach and Education is a national organization that is made up of six regional affiliates that work mainly with rural communities. Its main goal is to strengthen the voice of the rural poor, engage effectively with local governments, and increase food security in rural areas. The grantee supported the establishment of associations, assisted people to be self-employed through agricultural initiatives, and conducted policy reviews and research on agricultural issues affecting poor communities. This grant increase will support the grantee to undertake research that will analyze the role of nonprofits in supporting movement building and other forms of self-organizing. It will also reflect on the work of the six rural movements and how they have evolved over time.
