About this grant

The Trust for Community Outreach and Education was established in 1983 to promote the development of poor communities across South Africa. It is a national organization that supports movements of farm workers, small-scale farmers, rural women, and youth. The grantee strengthens leadership and supports its affiliate members to organize themselves and respond to issues that impact their lives. Past support enabled the grantee to build a strong network of rural movements, strengthen leadership within the movements, and expand its work to other provinces. This grant will allow the grantee to continue supporting farm worker groups, small-scale farmers, fisher communities, and youth to be organized, build leadership at a local level, and improve their quality of life.
