About this grant
Flint STRIVE provides employment training, placement and support to inner-city Flint residents seeking private-sector jobs. The program prepares participants for the workforce through a three-week workshop that focuses on the attitudinal prerequisites for successful entry-level employment.Funding will enable Flint STRIVE to provide services to 200 new clients in 2006 and follow-up support services to all existing clients.In five years of operation, Flint STRIVE has placed 684 of their 747 program graduates into jobs, with 85 percent retention over two years. The STRIVE model was developed by East Harlem Employment Services, and has been replicated in 19 cities in the U.S., England and Israel.
