About this grant
Flint Area Specialized Employment Services, Inc., provides employment training, placement, and support to Flint area residents seeking private-sector jobs. The program prepares participants for the workforce through 19 days of intensive training, which focuses on the attitudinal prerequisites for successful entry-level employment. Since its inception in 2001, 2,642 area residents have successfully completed the Flint STRIVE program, with 2,222 (or 84 percent) of the graduates successfully placed in jobs. This grant will allow Flint STRIVE to provide services to 400 new clients in 2010, and follow-up support services to all existing clients.
