About this grant
This grant will provide general purpose support to the Harlem Children’s Zone, a comprehensive community-building initiative focused on improving outcomes for poor children and their families in Harlem, New York. In 2012, the grantee provided a series of integrated social, recreational, health, and community-based services to more than 20,000 children and families in a 97-block area in central Harlem. Renewal support will enable the grantee to continue providing its seamless system of supports to reach more children, continue a longitudinal study that documents the success of participants in the grantee’s core programs, and assist more than 50 communities replicating its model.
