About this grant

This grant supports the Association of Small Foundations, a national membership organization for foundations with few or no staff. Established in 1995, the grantee has more than 3,000 members who donate over $3 billion per year and manage assets of approximately $60 billion. Through conferences, seminars, webinars, and production and distribution of guides, handbooks, primers, and directories, the grantee provides its members with educational programming, targeted resources, networking opportunities, and a collective voice in and beyond the philanthropic community. Over the next two years, major activities will include hosting a Katrina @ 5 conference in New Orleans and a biennial conference in Austin in 2010; frequent day-length, in-person educational events around the country as well as distance learning offerings; policy-related work on legislation affecting small foundations; and greatly enhanced evaluation activities to assess the impact of the association and its members.
