About this grant

This grant supports the Association of Small Foundations, a national membership organization for foundations with few or no staff. Established in 1995, the grantee has nearly 2,600 members located in all 50 states who donate nearly $5 billion per year and steward assets of more than $82 billion. The grantee’s mission is to enhance the power of philanthropy by providing donors, trustees, and professionals with peer learning opportunities, resources, and a collective voice in and beyond philanthropy. It is the leading source of information, tools, best practices, benchmarking, and advice for small foundations. In 2011, the grantee’s educational programs attracted 1,586 attendees. Over the next two years, major activities will include a biennial conference in 2012, greater accessibility to members via new communications technology, and in-person and distance learning events around the country. Key topics will include board self-assessment, impact, human resources, leadership, self-dealing, interpersonal effectiveness, streamlining, and technology.
