About this grant

This grant supports the Association of Small Foundations, a national membership organization for foundations with few or no staff. Established in 1995, the grantee has nearly 2,400 members who donate approximately $4 billion per year and steward assets of more than $71 billion. The grantee’s mission is to enhance the power of philanthropy by providing donors, trustees, and professionals with peer learning opportunities, resources, and a collective voice in and beyond philanthropy. It is the leading source of information, tools, best practices, benchmarking, and advice for small-staff philanthropy. In 2013, support from members covered 70 percent of its/the grantee’s operating costs. Over the next three years, the grantee will complete a strategic reframing, launch and establish a new brand, increase membership, increase support from all small-staff philanthropists, expand services, and strengthen its capacity to connect and serve its audiences through technology.
