About this grant

This grant supports Exponent Philanthropy (formerly the Association of Small Foundations), a national membership organization dedicated to serving foundations with few or no staff, philanthropic families, and individual donors. Established in 1997, the grantee has over 2,000 members who donate more than $3.5 billion per year and steward assets of more than $77 billion. The grantee’s mission is to empower philanthropists to leverage their resources to amplify their impact. It is the leading source of information, tools, best practices, benchmarking, and advice for small-staff philanthropy. Having shifted its business model over the past few years, Exponent Philanthropy has expanded support from members to cover 80 percent of its operating costs in 2016. Over the next three years, the grantee’s top priorities will be to grow its membership, increase and diversify its revenue stream, build its reputation, and strengthen and maximize its internal systems and processes to enhance stakeholder satisfaction.
