About this grant

The program goal is to further the development of community foundations in Russia. Through this program, the Charities Aid Foundation will award small grants for startup and strengthening of community foundations, as well as targeted grants to reinforce regional alliances. The grantee will also work to improve community assessment tools and to elaborate meaningful indicators of community foundation impact in Russia. In 2013-2014, the program saw the establishment of five new community foundations, bringing the total in Russia to 50. The grantee also undertook a comprehensive survey of the community foundation field in Russia and subsequently published and widely distributed its findings on the growing community leadership role played by these institutions. During the grant period, community foundations in Russia raised over $5 million from local sources. The Charities Aid Foundation distributes more than $500 million annually to charitable causes worldwide on behalf of individual, corporate, and trust clients. Based in the United Kingdom, it has offices in Russia, Australia, Bulgaria, India, South Africa, and the United States.
