About this grant

The Social Change Assistance Trust works to improve the quality of life of rural people in South Africa by assisting them to address poverty through locally developed initiatives. It supports rural community-based advice offices that focus on human rights, gender equity, HIV/AIDS, and local economic development. Past support assisted the grantee to fund and support community-based advice offices in the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Northern Cape, and Northwest provinces. The grantee also piloted a peer-to-peer learning and mentoring process among its grantees and appointed established organizations to support emerging ones through horizontal learning exchanges. It also trained grantees in various areas based on need, and the topics covered included financial management, governance, fundraising, gender sensitization, and women in leadership. This grant will assist the grantee to support community-based advice offices in various provinces across South Africa through small grants and mentorship support to enable them to achieve their community development goals.
