About this grant
This is one of ten grants recommended to state organizations to participate in the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative. The Ford, Annie E. Casey, and Mott Foundations created the initiative in 1992 in order to build state capacity for timely, credible, and accessible tax and budget analysis on behalf of low- and middle-income families. The California Budget Project joined this effort in 1998 and has become recognized throughout the state as an authoritative source of information and analysis on tax, budget, and broader economic issues. During the renewal grant period, the grantee will prepare and disseminate analyses, with a particular emphasis on budget and tax policy issues, education, and safety net programs. Other activities planned for the next two years include community outreach and strategic communication efforts. Related to this project is a grant to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, which provides technical assistance to all 36 organizations participating in this initiative.
