About this grant
This is one of ten grants recommended to state organizations participating in the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative. The Ford, Casey, and Mott foundations created this initiative in 1992 in order to build state capacity for timely, credible, and accessible tax and budget analysis on behalf of low- and middle-income families. The California Budget Project joined this effort in 1994 and has become recognized as an authoritative source of information and analysis. During this grant period, the grantee will prepare and disseminate analyses on a range of state fiscal issues, with a particular emphasis on the state and local tax policies, education, and income support programs. The grantee will also inform policy proposals, conduct outreach, and provide training for a wide range of agencies in California. Related to this project is another Mott grant to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, which analyzes federal budget and tax policy issues and provides technical assistance to the 41 state organizations participating in this initiative.
