About this grant
The program goal is to support the continued organizational and programmatic development of the International Center for Transitional Justice, which was established in 2001 to provide assistance to countries grappling with past human rights abuses. The center operates in more than 30 countries, including the Balkans and South Africa, providing research, technical assistance, and policy recommendations to governments and civil society organizations. During the grant period, the center will respond to urgent requests for assistance around the world; develop new programs that will keep it on the cutting edge of transitional justice work; and strengthen its institutional capacity by improving knowledge management, monitoring and evaluation, and communications. During the previous grant period, the center provided policy advice in Uganda and Kenya, built and strengthened institutions in Liberia and Columbia, empowered leaders and practitioners in the field through training and fellowship programs, and conducted research that led to new policy options. The center is based in New York City.
