About this grant
This grant will provide partial support for the Project on Race and Community Revitalization of the Aspen Institute’s Roundtable on Comprehensive Community Initiatives. This project aims to focus greater attention on racial equity in community building and democratic decisionmaking. It also focuses on developing a critical mass of leaders who are more attuned to race as a structural problem and who will be better able to identify or develop strategies for recognizing and dealing with race issues. Recent work has included further refinement of the curriculum and tools for a Racial Equity and Society Seminar and training of community foundations and other leaders from seven locations around the country. Future support will capitalize on the work with community foundations through peer learning among participants and distillation and dissemination of case studies from key locations.
