About this grant
The Centre for Civil Society, based at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, was established to promote the study and analysis of the nonprofit sector in South Africa and the wider African continent. It produces research, offers scholarships to those who want to study civil society, runs workshops and seminars, convenes conferences, and disseminates knowledge and publications on the pressing issues facing the civil society sector. Past support enabled the program to continue to conduct research on topical issues facing civil society in South Africa and on the African continent; support and mentor community activists to improve the living conditions within their communities; collaborate with civil society organizations to seek solutions for various social challenges; and publish books and papers on topics related to political economy, civil society, culture and social movements, among others. This grant will continue to support the grantee to undertake these activities.
