About this grant

The program goal is to promote and develop philanthropy in Romania. During the grant period, the Association for Community Relations will build the capacity of nonprofit organizations in Romania to raise local resources, strengthen the infrastructure for philanthropy, strengthen community philanthropy and community foundations, and improve the visibility of the philanthropic sector in Romania. The grantee will also work to strengthen its regional cooperation with peer organizations and individual professionals in the field of philanthropy development, and its financial sustainability by building its long-term assets and an endowment. In 2014-2015, the grantee raised over $3.5 million through innovative giving mechanisms, including giving circles and short text messages; helped more than 60 nonprofit organizations to start fundraising from local sources; and facilitated the establishment of three new community foundations. Based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, the Association for Community Relations was established in 2001 with the mission to promote and develop philanthropy in Romania.
