About this grant
The goal of the Pre-accession Partnerships for Rural Europe (PREPARE) program is to help European Union new member states and candidate countries create strong partnerships in order to effectively access and utilize EU funding. This grant will enable the Swedish Federation of Rural Economy and Agricultural Societies to continue working with a network of non-governmental organizations in Western and Eastern Europe to promote multinational exchange focused on rural development. Activities will include in-country training to promote dialogue and cooperation between different actors in rural development; multinational exchanges; and international networking to support rural development efforts. To date, program activities included developing and strengthening national networks in Latvia, the Czech Republic and Lithuania; laying the groundwork for networks in Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia; maintaining a Web site; organizing international gatherings of the PREPARE network in Bulgaria (2004) and in Lithuania (2005); and conducting traveling workshops in Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia and Lithuania directly preceding the network meetings.
