About this grant
The greatest need identified in the field of community organizing is for additional trained organizers, a professional role that demands a sophisticated and disciplined skill set, including the ability to develop and challenge leaders, identify and facilitate training needs, analyze social and economic conditions, learn about a community’s local history, develop hundreds of relationships across all sectors of a community, and lead critical evaluation and reflection sessions on the organization’s development and work. This grant will support a response to this need by funding the Organizers Institute of the Direct Action and Research Training Center.
